Scholars at Risk SAR

International Network

An international network of universities support and protects scholars whose lives and research are under threat

Around 500 universities are members of the international Scholars at Risk network. SAR was founded in 2000, is based at New York University and has managed to provide many researchers with temporary positions abroad, ensuring that they can continue their scientific work during exile. Every two years, a SAR Global Congress is organised by SAR Headquarters that brings together members from all over the world.

SAR Switzerland Section is part of SAR Europe. In biannual meetings, SAR work is coordinated between the Swiss member universites.
